Organize Your Kitchen To Save Money

In most standard kitchens we find a refrigerator, a freezer, many cabinets, and many drawers into which we store our food, pots and pans, silverware, spices and other cooking items. There are many nooks and crannies in any kitchen and all of these spaces seem to get filled up very fast. Every time we go shopping we bring home even more items to store. When one area is filled up, we place the next item in a different place. Pretty soon, we may have tin foil in several different places because the tin foil drawer is full. The next time we are looking for tin foil we could forget where we put that extra roll. We assume that we are out of tin foil and we may go to the store again to buy another roll. We forgot where we put that extra roll and we therefore spend more money buying something that we don’t need.
A better way is to organize your kitchen storage spaces so that you don’t overspend. One way is to assign a certain drawer or cabinet for certain items. For example, all cereals go only on one shelf in the cupboard. Being very strict with this method will save money because you can see at a glance if your cereal stores are full or depleted. Do not allow yourself to put anything else on that cereal shelf.
Another way to organize your kitchen is to make a list. On this list is every cabinet and drawer in the kitchen. In drawer number one is baking items (for example). When you use one of those items, cross it off the list. This indicates that you need to buy this one item to replace the one that you used. If you keep a tidy list, then you will always know what is in your kitchen and what needs replacing.
